ULURU- A GEOGRAPHIC ISSUE:
BY TAYLA BAXTER- L1A GEO Uluru is a famous Australian icon and is also known as Ayers Rock It is a large sandstone formation in the southern part of the Northern territory in Australia. The sandstone formation measures 348m above sea level, and is known to change colours at different times of the day; appears glowing red at dawn and sunset. For the Aboriginal people of Australia, "the dreamtime" represents the truth of their society, culture, traditions and spirituality. It is a time when the ancestors, gods and the living mortals come together to learn about the heritage and customs of the Aboriginals people. Uluru is believed to have been created at the beginning of time by the spirit people, of the Aboriginals. According to the Uluru dream, the world was a featureless place until the ancestors of the Anangu tribe merged and travelled across the land, creating features like Uluru. |
